White-tailed Lapwing

A White-tailed Lapwing arrived at Dungeness on 11th July via Lancashire, Essex and Gloucestershire.  It was still present this morning when I went to see it.

This is a first for Kent (and me!)

Rather too far away for photography but here is a record shot.

And two of the more unusual garden visitors we have had - Redwing and Reed Bunting

Made it down to West Hythe first thing this morning to see this “first for Kent”.  It showed really well for over an hour.

Dungeness - 17th August 2008

A brief visit this afternoon produce good numbers of waders including

Summer plumage Grey Plover.  (Black-bellied Plover seems much more appropriate)

Oare Marshes

An early morning visit produced no rarities but some nice common birds …
