First Post

On 21st March we set out from Heathrow on route to Bhutan returning to England on 8th April.

Over the next few days (weeks!) I shall be adding a photo diary of my visit including birds, scenery, buildings and people.

Bhutan Day 15

An early start was impossible as low cloud cut visibility to almost zero.

When we start an interesting building is decorated with Druk beer bottles. Must have been a good evening as this stuff is “Guaranteed to be no more than 8% by volume”.

Bhutan Day 13

We moved to through more forest heading for the town of Trashigang. The light on the green trees is wonderful.

Bhutan Day 12

The highlight of today was undoubtedly the brief views of Ward’s Trogon. Brief=no photos by me.

We walked down into a patch of forest and as we arrived in the clearing our local guide grabbed my arm and pointed. I peered into the distance when I realised that no more than 20 yds away was a male Trogon with his wonderful pink and brown plumage. He flew off shortly afterwards.

An early start this morning - everyone was feeling cold this morning. My sleeping bag seemed to have kept me warmer than most people.

Bhutan Day 9

Today we finally catch up with perhaps the star species of the trip Beautiful Nuthatch. We get good views of 2 creeping around on trees quite close to.
