Bhutan Day 8

We explore the wooded hill near our campsite.

And get our first sightings of what is probably the most spectacular species of the trip - hornbills.

These huge birds (wingspan up to 5 feet) make a noise like swans wings when they take off but after a a few flaps glide effortlessly over the canopy - an almost prehistoric looking scene.

The locals have an interesting way of drying the chillies which are a staple part of their diet.
